Hate Me But...

I love this product! I have a very small Chihuahua that DESPISES his nails to be cut! He won't speak to me for weeks after I clip his nails (though that might be a blessing!)

I don't know how this product will work on large breeds though I read some reviews that said it works great on large dogs and even cats. It is very quiet but sturdy. The main thing to remember when using this product is not to push the nail hard on the sander. Just place the nail on the sander lightly for best results. If the sander stops or you smell burning you are pushing too hard. What is great about Pedi Paws is it sands instead of cutting the nails which takes off that jagged edge that clipping nails causes. So I hereby give Pedi Paws two thumbs up & my dog Paco gives it 4 paws up! Buy it at Target, Walmart or Goggle it to find it online.

Movie Monday...

Photo and plot from Redbox

PLOT: When a man discovers that he has only six weeks to live, he leaves his job, his fiancee and his overbearing mother and tries to spend his remaining days in seclusion. But when a miracle transforms his life, his quirky neighbors disrupt his plan to live out his days in quiet desperation. Rated PG by the Motion Picture Association of America for thematic elements and some language.

GENRE: Comedy, Drama

MY THOUGHTS: My thoughts are that this is NOT a comedy. I was really expecting to laugh being Luke Wilson stars in it. I've never seen Luke Wilson in a movie like this and it is some of the best acting he has ever done (IMHO.) It was an intriguing movie about hope and faith-The movie will keep you engaged but really only because Luke's acting was so believable. If you are a Luke Wilson fan it's worth the watch...Other then that I can only give this movie a rating of 5. There were no sexual scenes and and I don't remember any cussing other then at the end when the Lord's name is taken in vain one time with the "D" word behind it...I remember it well because it made me wince. If there is one thing I can't stand, it's to hear the Lords name taken in vain. This movie did choke me and my husband up (my husband is NOT one to choke up at movies) out of joy however, not sadness. Though it was not my favorite movie I don't regret watching it. ONCE again, I AM a Luke Wilson fan.

RATINGS: Are on a scale from 1 to 10-One being "not good-don't bother watching" to ten being "it's a super great movie."

Movie Monday...

~PRIDE AND PREJUDICE~

Do you like the 1995 version
Starring: Colin Firth, Jennifer Ehle?

OR

The 2005 version
Starring: Keira Knightley, Matthew Macfadyen?

I know I will be going against the grain on this one... I know many of you just adore the 1995 version starring Colin Firth (he is one of my favorite actors) ... But I have to tell you, I received the 1995 version for Christmas and was so excited until I watched it. It was drawn out and "to me" there was so much over acting. The giggly women gave me a headache. Maybe I shouldn't be one to review this movie because for one: I haven't read the book and this movie is probably much closer to the book then the 2005 one starring Keira Knightley. Two: I LOOOOVE the 2005 version and think Matthew Macfadyen is wonderful in it. I lov, lov, love this movie most ardently.

On a scale from 1 to 10-One being "not good-don't bother watching" to ten being "it's a super great movie." I give the 1995 version a 4 and the 2005 version a 10 (It's one of my favorite movies!)
Funny thing is... My Mom can't stand the 2005 version at all!

Life Giving/Changing Words...

Photo from Country living

It was one year ago today that I received a E mail from my doctor saying 3 very important words...

But lets back up just a little bit...

2-3 years before that E mail on January 14th 2008 I was very very ill. I could barely get out of bed, I wasn't depressed I was weak. I could barely make it down the stairs let alone up the stairs. I was anemic and had all sorts of heart, lung, stomach and "womanly"problems. I remember my OBGYN pushing for me to have a hysterectomy.
I had to wear masks to cover my face because I had major breathing problems and my kids walked in on me often giving myself breathing treatments. I felt so bad for my husband, kids, my brother, mother and dad...From one day to the next they didn't know if I was going to "make it." Yes, I was THAT sick. My kids were afraid to leave me and go to school, my husband was always waiting for his phone to ring at work, knowing I would be on the other end and I would be asking him to take me to the emergency room. He wondered if he would make it home on time as he was racing down the highway. I had so much stomach pain and each time the hospital was sure it was my gallbladder but after many many tests they could never find anything wrong with ANY of my organs. I went to every specialist in the book, lung, heart, stomach... I had a endoscopy and every test you can think of. My doctor called me once and said my blood tested positive for an ANA. I asked what that meant and was told a autoimmune disease like Lupus. Then my blood was tested again and it was negative for an ANA... The doctors/specialist could only shake their heads wondering what in the world it could be. But it was something because you don't just go to the hospital in so much pain that you are ready for it to just end-Normal people can walk without feeling like they were going to pass out... The pain at times got so bad the hospital gave me morphine. I was put on oxygen and my heart raced over 200 often.

I was so weak that many times I just wanted to let go of this life-I could barely eat anything and was dwindling away to nothing. I ate toast most mornings and not much more then that...This went on "seriously" for about 1 1/2 years then I got that beautiful E mail one year ago today with the 3 major words~ It read:

Dear Mrs Beck,

GET OFF GLUTEN! (the 3 key words)

Sincerely, Your doctor

Okay, so those weren't the exact words-His letter was much more professional/technical but that was the just of it.

From that moment on I didn't put another morsel of anything with flour, rye, barley or oats in my mouth. 3 months later I started breathing a little better. 5 months I was feeling stronger with NO more female issues at all. 6, no longer anemic didn't need my breathing treatments or my masks. 8 months later I could go hiking and do okay walking around once again. A year later I am almost a hundred percent myself. I used to be afraid to go to the store alone in fear that I would pass out and scare everyone around me... Now there is no stopping me.

My daughter was just commenting the other day on how drastic my life has changed for the better-She told me she really didn't think I was going to make it much longer on the earth before that letter... I believe she was right, but I did have faith that God was seeing me through and there is always a silver lining... I had no one to turn to but God during this time-No one else had any answers. Through my weakness he was my strength ~Every day I wondered if it would be that day I left here to be with the Lord. I had to prepare myself... I was too weak to prepare my family. I always say, "we need to thank the Lord in the good times and bad." There have been times I was bawling my head off in pain but thanking God at the same time... He ALWAYS knows the bigger picture. I choose to trust him. I am more grateful for every breath I take now. I am closer to my family-I enjoy the simple things more then anything. My family thinks I have more willpower then anyone they have ever met. It's not willpower-I just want to live. :)

So on this day one year ago I buried gluten and in return I got my life back~♥~

Movie Monday...

Being my family really likes movies... I thought I would start a movie Monday where I'm going to talk about movies I either like or dislike. I know everyone has different tastes and opinions AND I welcome your true feelings on these movies whether you agree with me or don't ~Speak out! This will let people read my comments and decide if they want to actually see the movie for themselves.

EAGLE EYE

The first movie is Eagle Eye: Sorry BUT..... I REALLY liked it! I came in a little late after my husband had started the movie and it looked pretty good so I told him to "catch me up on it." Then when all the action started I was sitting up saying, "I just LOVE movies like this!"

Packed with non-stop action, this film includes frequent scenes of gunfire, military invasions, explosions & car crashes. There is also some cussing but no sexual scenes. If I had young children I would not let them watch this movie. I would feel comfortable with my older teenagers watching it though. If you like The Bourne Supremacy and Transformers you will most likely like this movie. Eagle Eye is out on DVD.

On a scale from 1 to 10-One being "not good-don't bother watching" to ten being "it's a super great movie" my husband gave Eagle Eye a 8, our 17 year old son gave it a 7. I give it a 8 and say it's a must see.

♥~Be Mine~♥

Hi Everyone,
Life has been very busy with a newborn around. I haven't had much time to be creative so once again I am bringing you craft ideas from Better Homes & Gardens online. These are so simple even I could find time to do them!

~Heart to Heart Garland~
How To: Make a garland of hearts cut from fabric scraps layered and attached with iron-on adhesive. Punch small holes in the sides of the hearts and tie them together with ribbon.

~Valentine Candle~
How To:
1. Cut strips of different pink patterned papers and adhere them to same-size strips of white card stock.
2. Die-cut, punch, or freehand-cut two sizes of hearts from the patterned papers. Poke tiny holes in some of the hearts to allow wire to be threaded through them.
3. Join the hearts by running wire through the holes and also by wrapping the wire around the hearts, measuring the candle circumference as you go. If you wish, slide beads onto the wire as you twist and bend it into curls and loops.

~Valentine Votive Candle~
How To: Light up your love life with a votive candle creation. Place a candle in a candy dish and add a sprinkling of colorful beads to create a warm, comforting glow. Added idea: In place of beads use candy hearts or buttons etc.

~Valentines Heart Wreath~
Dozens of colorful hearts flutter on card stock cut into the shape of a wreath. Use paper punches (about $5-$20 at scrapbook supply and crafts stores) or scissors to cut hearts from colored vellum and lightweight decorative papers. See the next photo for additional directions.

How To: Curl the cut-out hearts by scraping them between your thumb and a butter knife just as you would curling ribbon. Then layer them on the round card stock base and attach each with a dab of clear-drying glue, either in the center or near one edge. Hang it with ribbon.

How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count The Ways...

I know many of you are starting diet and exercise plans...AND I am planning on exercising more too...BUT I cannot seem to get my mind off my love...
Yes, my love of See's Candy!
I was doing fine until my Sister~In~Law Anne brought over See's candy as a gift for our Dad this Christmas... Sorry Dad, but I think I ate more then half the box! Now I can't stop thinking about those delicious chocolate candies and wanting more, more, more!!!!! Thankfully my husband always buys me a big box for Valentines day and Easter. I do hope I can wait~My car (stinkin' car) tends to want to turn into the parking lot of our local See's! (yeah, that's the ticket, blame the car!) But I will be good and I will wait (okay I will try real hard to wait!)

By the way, I used to work for See's and they make all their candies fresh with real butter and no preservatives~ You can order See's online too.

See's just came out with "Football Fan" snacks...Any excuse to eat See's works for me!
DO YOU HAVE SOME KIND OF FOOD THAT YOU CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT?
(By the way, while I was writing this post I was eating raw almonds and a salad. I do "try" to eat healthy it's just my mind tends to wander! )

Movies On A Budget...

We, like many others have been trying to cut cost in our home. My family really likes hanging out at the house and watching movies and now we can keep watching our movies at a fraction of the price with....

RED BOX

(photo from the Internet)

For those of you that may not know Red Box is a way of renting movies for only $1.00 each. You can rent and return at over 10,000 locations.

I first heard about Red Box from my brother Ron... I thought it was too good to be true~ I didn't realize that they had Red Boxes all over not just where he lived until my son came home with a movie he rented from Red Box. So the other day I went and gave it a try, I'm glad I did.

I went to our nearest Red Box, clicked the movies I wanted, slid my debit card and put in my E mail address... Next thing I know the movies I picked are coming out of the machine! It only cost a dollar a movie and you can keep the movie till 9 p.m. the next night... If you don't return the movie the next night you will be charge a dollar more each night until it is returned.
What many people DO NOT know is you can actually go online HERE and reserve the movies you want and they will be waiting for you when you go pick them up at your local Red Box.
To find out if there is a Red Box near your home click HERE~!
Then grab your family, some snackies and enjoy your movies in the comfort of your own home!

I'm Still Here...

Hi Friends,
Yes, I am still alive and kicking...I've just been taking a break and enjoying my family and getting organized. I am not one to make New Years resolutions but have been busy thinking about which direction I want to go! Right now I feel like I am sitting at a fork in the road, I'm sure many of you know how this feels.
I will be back to posting on Monday and hope to have some fun things for you to see and do this year (Crafts)... I look forward to visiting all your blogs again too. I do want to thank you all for your kind words and your prayers for baby Noelle. She came home before Christmas and is doing wonderful. She was very jaundice but is now almost back to normal. Though the doctors said she had Spina Bifida we know she was healed and doesn't anymore. We have many appointments coming up and I know the doctors will all be shocked! God is so good.

"Noelle already thinking about what crafts her and Grandma can do together"
Our snow all melted after Christmas and then we got hit again this morning... It is supposed to turn to blue skies later today though! I can't complain, at least we don't still live where my MOM lives! Click HERE to understand what I am saying! Egad!

I PRAY a very Blessed and Happy New Year for you ALL!
